The Plastic and Cosmetic Laser Surgical Centre – Procedure: Hair Removal
Traditional hair removal techniques like shaving, plucking and waxing are only temporary fixes. Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment inside the hair follicle while inflicting very little damage to the delicate pores and structures of the skin.
Am I a good candidate for hair removal?
If you don’t want to deal with the tedium, frequency, expense and pain of shaving, plucking and waxing, you are a good candidate for laser hair removal.
How does the procedure work?
Laser hair removal treatments are performed in our surgical centre and are overseen by one of our plastic surgeons.
Using the revolutionary elos Technology , our Syneron System uses optical energy to create a thermal path on which radio frequency (RF) travels. RF energy is delivered directly to the hair follicle, and because the follicle cannot conduct it, this results in a build up of current density and a 4x heat coefficient thermal transfer. This terminally disables and denatures the hair follicle.
RF energy is selective, so it directly impacts the hair follicle, allowing for hair removal in a broader range of hair and skin colors, and minimizing undesirable effects such as burning of the skin.

What are the side effects of laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal uses reduced light energy levels that are safe for all skin types. Therefore, RF energy hair removal is virtually painless. Most people experience no side effects, although some may exhibit short-term local reddening.
