Plastic and Cosmetic Laser Surgical Centre : Procedure : Injectables/Dermal Fillers

Our clinic offers skin care injectables such as BOTOX® in addition to a variety of dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, Voluma with Lidocaine, and Volbella with Lidocaine(lip enhancer). Dermal fillers are procedures that add volume to the face or lips.Procedure: Injectables/Dermal Fillers

In childhood, our skin is plump because it is full of hyaluronic acid, which fills the space between collagen and elastin fibres in the skin and holds water to maintain the skin’s volume. As we age, the level of natural hyaluronic acid in our skin decreases, resulting in lines, furrows and wrinkles. Dermal fillers fill depressions in the skin that appear as we age, softening or eliminating wrinkles and folds, improving lip volume and definition, and producing skin that looks and feels hydrated.

Am I a good candidate for injectable dermal fillers?

The formation of wrinkles and the loss of skin volume are an inevitable part of aging. If you are interested in reducing your facial wrinkles or “plumping” the appearance of your cheeks and lips, you may be a good candidate for dermal filler treatments.

How does the procedure work?

Dermal fillers are injected directly into the skin using a fine needle. Local anaesthetic or topical anaesthetic will be administered prior to treatment to ensure your comfort. The procedure is quick and convenient with instantaneous results.

The effects of skin care injectables are temporary, lasting from six months to a year depending on the individual. During this time, however, the dermal filler treatment softens wrinkles and folds, such as nasal labial folds (smile lines), marionette lines (lines from mouth to chin) and frown lines, and helps provide cheek augmentation and lip definition and volume.

What are the side effects of dermal fillers?

Most side effects resulting from dermal fillers are mild and last only a few days to a week. Because hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the human body, allergic reactions will not occur. Side effects may include redness, tenderness, firmness, swelling, bruising or lumps.

Patients can resume normal activities almost immediately following treatment, so you will not need to plan for an extended recovery period.
